Skills Training for Mental Health

In Fall 2024, CREATE will begin offering the following social emotional learning courses:

  1. Mental Health infused Basketball Games for Kids, Activities and Nervous System education for grades 4-8
  2. Mental Health First Aid Course for Educators and Staff. Presented in collaboration with the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.
  3. Mental Health First Aid Course for Children and Teens. Kids also learn how to recognize signs of distress, seek support and speak about mental health concerns without stigma.

For Kids

Nervous System Education for Mental Health
  • How the body responds to stress
  • What automatic nervous system responses (Fight, Flight) look and feel like
  • How we can use our body to help cope with stress
  • How communication from our body and body consciousness leads to better health

  • Common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges.
  • Common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges.
  • How to interact with a person in crisis.
  • How to connect a person with help.
  • Expanded content on trauma, substance use and self-care.
